Privacy Policy
Bookmarkio is a Chrome extension that replaces your new tab page with a bookmark manager. We are committed to your privacy. Bookmarkio does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data to us or any third party beyond what is described below.
Data Stored Locally
All of the following is stored exclusively in your browser using chrome.storage.local. It never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

Third-Party Services
Bookmarkio contacts the following external services only when you explicitly use those features.
Pexels (api.pexels.com)
Used when you search for a background image, page logo, or bookmark icon via the Pexels search tab.
- What is sent: your search query text
- What is received: photo metadata and image URLs
- No account required. Requests are made using a shared API key embedded in the extension.
Pexels may log requests per their own Privacy Policy.
Google Drive (googleapis.com)
Used only if you choose to connect Google Drive to browse and open your files from the new tab page.
- What is sent: OAuth authentication requests; file listing and search queries against your own Drive
- What is received: a list of your Drive files (names, types, links) for display in the Drive panel
- Access is read-only. Bookmarkio cannot modify, upload, or delete any Drive files.
- The OAuth token is managed by Chrome's identity API and cached locally by your browser. It is never sent to us.
- You can disconnect Google Drive at any time via Settings → Google Drive → Sign out, which revokes the token immediately.
Google may log API requests per their Privacy Policy.

What We Do Not Do
- We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry
- We do not have a backend server or database
- We do not transmit your bookmarks, browsing history, or any personal data to any server
- We do not use advertising or tracking of any kind
- We do not share any data with third parties beyond the Pexels and Google Drive integrations described above, and only when you actively use those features
Children's Privacy
Bookmarkio does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be published with a new date at the top. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
